The KJUBE

Eindhoven

At the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, we designed and calculated the structure for ‘The KJUBE’ on Jan van Lieshoutstraat in the center of Eindhoven.

One Calculation Model

The complete structure consists of a foundation with a concrete beam grid on piles, concrete floors supported by concrete cores and sand-lime bricks, and a steel structure for the cantilevered penthouse (also known as ‘The KJUBE’). All components, made of different materials, are incorporated into a single calculation model. The 3D calculation software Dlubal RFEM was used for this purpose.

Most components can be structurally verified within the 3D calculation model. In a few cases, the force effects need to be extracted from the 3D model and then checked using a different specialized calculation program.

The great advantage of this 3D calculation model is that it provides a clear insight into the force distribution within the entire structure, not just the individual components. Furthermore, possible changes can usually be implemented easily, and their effects on the entire structure become immediately visible.
