Nexus Heights
Housing concept
More housing in the same space
To accommodate more residences, the existing homes in this location were demolished. The 22 demolished social housing units are being replaced by a spacious apartment complex comprising 63 units spanning 1 to 2 levels.
On the side facing the residential area, the homes consist of 2 levels. This preserves the existing streetscape and ensures that residents access their homes from the exterior of the complex. All other units are single-level and vary in size, accessed from the interior of the complex.
Anonymous and sleek
The exterior of the building is anonymous and sleek. The busy road adjacent to the building makes it an unsuitable location for balconies or galleries. Therefore, both are located on the interior of the building. The interior features many rounded shapes, creating a playful identity.
Combining galleries and balconies fosters more interaction among residents. The large openings interrupt the galleries, allowing more light to flow through the building and facilitating interaction between different levels.
Vibrant for the entire neighborhood
Various commercial spaces are situated at the end of the building, enhancing its vibrancy and making it accessible to the entire neighborhood.
The parking spaces are partially sunken, promoting natural ventilation while keeping cars out of view from the balconies. On top of the parking areas, a park is created for use by the entire neighborhood.
